Little big adventure 2 mirror1/18/2023 Blew through the 6 pack in nothing flat so headed back and bought the two remaining packs. Only thing I could find that looked like I wouldn’t kill the machine while leaning were these little 3.25 inch round wood circles. So headed to walmart to look for wood in the craft section. So quickly got board with paper, and tried a little cardboard. okay lets do just a little drawing and see what happens. They were supposed to be perfect and not off center or that. Put a sheet of paper in, and see if it burned + into the paper. Granted I did purchase the extra exhaust fan to help move smoke out of the machine.įirst thing up after getting the fan and power hooked up was to run the “calibration”. well the cost of the cheap one’s went up and up and up. Not to mention trying to find a less expensive one that would let me do glasses with a built in rotary. But by the time I added all the needed “extra’s”. I had looked at a couple less expensive ones. Price has come down quite a bit from when I looked at them before. But every time I looked at them, the price was so far out of my budget it wasn’t even funny. Something that has kind of interested me since I purchased my 3D printer 5 or so years ago. The big box is a pro-consumer CO2 laser engraver/cutter. Broke my arm a year ago, and well it just wasn’t the same. On this blog you’ll see that I bought a Onewheel pint about two years ago. Also thinking of going up to the red hill and seeing if I can find a somewhat flat rock that is no more than 15mm or so think and try some rock. On the agenda for tomorrow - I ordered some anodized metal business card blanks, and some acrylic square coasters. Found a nice image of an Indian head coin, and a Celtic symbol for luck and love. If I get more, I need to have them a little less height (these one’s are 5mm thick, I need some 2mm or so). Went back to the craft store and got their bag of “wooden nickel” blanks. The only other thing I made today was a lucky coin type thing. But the little wood hearts from the craft store yesterday, a height of just around 2.5mm. I’m guessing a lot depends on the medium it will be engraving. Had another friend ask how small the laser would engrave words. Again for a first try I don’t think it came out all that bad. Not to bad for a first try.ĭid the print mirrored on the back of the plate. When I held the glass up to the light, you could actually see ripples in the glass. After I measured the third plate and it wasn’t even 22mm to a little more (not quite 23mm). Went and bought three more to try her logo on. That’s the max height from the honeycomb to the laser head. The plate I bought yesterday was exactly 22 millimeters tall. I’m going to figure out the hard way of doing it. Apparently if I’m going to learn to do something. Asked her if I could play with her logo a little big. Lady I work with (at the real job that lets me try these expensive hobbies) has a side business of making breads and other goodies. Some I used blue painters tape as a masking to try and make the words /image sharper. Covered almost the entire bottom of it with engravings working on settings. I had bought a really cheap plate from the dollar store yesterday. Did just a small amount of playing with wood again, then decided I might as well try glass. I have only had the laser engraver for 3 days.
